vacations within vacations are great! we took a mini-vacation/weekend away with some of the family while we were on vacation last month. it was just a couple hours away, and so beautiful! we stayed at this cute little resort in a small town on the Baltic Sea, and had a great time eating, drinking and being merry!

this was the afternoon we arrived. we checked in, had lunch, then headed straight for the beach for a little walk and play time for the tot!

this picture is for my hair (there was more to the pic, including people, but i cropped it down to this). i just like the way it turned out that day, which is not the case everyday!

later in the day (of yesterday's post), we headed back downtown to meet up with my sister-in-law and her little one for ice cream and catching up. of course, especially being on vacation, i had to change into a different outfit. by this point on our trip, the weather was getting better, so i had to get the most out of the clothes i brought; two outfits in one day is much better than one, in my humble opinion.

so what did i wear today? nothing that great; denim skirt and a tee. so it's kinda like you're seeing what i wore today too, no?

the weather was awesome, so me and my little tot spent a lot of time out of doors today! hoping to do the same tomorrow. and yes, i'll probably be cheating again and posting another vacation outfit, and then some. aren't you curious now?

it was actually lovely and sunny here in Seattle today, but this picture is not from today. it's another vacation picture, and in fact was the day after yesterday's post pic was taken (so basically a month ago...i know, i'm totally cheating here).

we went to a park downtown, let the tot run around like crazy, walked around a bit, took some photos. my darling husband did actually take some full-length pictures of me too, but i strongly dislike how my lower half was represented, so they will not be making an appearance here.

instead, my best accessory; my little tot! oh, and that's my father-in-law in the background.

ok, i know, it really was about time that i got another post up! i finally stopped over-analyzing the pictures and what i should "say" about where i was, what i was wearing, how i was feeling, blah, blah, blah....

these pictures are from our fourth or fifth day of vacation last month. on this day, the weather was beautiful, and we went to the countryside to visit the hubby's grandmother!

anyhow, it's late, so that's all she wrote! we had a busy weekend (though in the rain), entertaining and celebrating father's day.

that's how the saying goes, right? i'm pretty sure.

that's how i've felt over the past two weeks with getting outfit posts up. i've been on vacation since the 13th, and have been (for the most part) wearing cute outfits. my darling husband has been taking some pictures of/for me too. but then comes the end of the day, and the tot getting to sleep and "supper" being eaten, both happening anywhere between 7 and 10pm, if we're even back from whereever we've been that day.....so it just hasn't happened.

and what i'm missing more (as i'm still in the very early stages of my own blogging) are my daily blog reads! i will admit here that ridiculously enough, i follow about 70 blogs (and have many more bookmarked that i haven't put into google reader yet).

i also had big plans to snap and post some street style here, too. however, we've been so busy, and not in the city much, so that just hasn't happened either. but we've got two days in Paris ahead of us before heading back home, so maybe i'll be able to snap some street style there (but don't hold me to it).

anyhow, it's our last day in Poland, and i've got the place to myself for a couple of hours this morning. so before i started to pack us up, i had to jump on here for a quick update, but no pics yet. i'll get on it when we get stateside, and my jet lag subsides (or has me up at the crack of dawn).

everybody, everywear: florals

i have to admit....i cheated. i didn't wear this outfit out of the house today, or for even much of the day, for that matter. i was merely continuing my packing for my upcoming trip (don't mind the open suitcase), and this is one of the outfits i took a picture of, which so happened to have florals, so i decided to count it as my EBEW outfit for today.

you really don't want to know what i actually wore, but i'll give you a rundown of the situation anyhow. i have a sick toddler, desperately trying to nurse him back to health before we set off for our travels in a few days. and though this would have been super comfy to wear all day, i'm trying to avoid as much laundry as possible before we go. so i ended up wearing a sweat skirt (yes, skirt...old co-operative circa 1998), tee, zip up hoodie, and striped knee socks. and no, i did not (would not dare to) wear that out of the house!

anyhow, i like florals but don't have too many pieces in my closet. this is the first time i paired stripes and florals, but i think it works out. from what i can remember that i read in a magazine or style book, big stripes with big florals, little stripes with little florals.

it's been one of those weeks.....and then some

another slump in blogging has occurred this past 10 days or so....oops!

1. i have not been wearing anything (in my opinion) "blog-worthy"
2. when i actually have, i haven't been in it long enough to get a few pictures taken
3. the tot's going through some changes and is keeping me more busy than usual
4. we leave the country on friday and i've been using any free time to get things taken care of in preparation

so, thank you (whomever and wherever you are) for stickin' around! and do keep stickin' around! i hope to at least get a couple outfit posts up before we hop on the jet plane friday!

picking and choosing

last night while my darling husband had band practice in the basement, and the tot was somewhat soundly sleeping, i got started on my packing for our upcoming trip to Europe. here's what i came up with so far!

i think by taking this route, i'm going to be a much more efficient packer than our last overseas trip. i was all over the place, and didn't really plan outfits at all. in the end, i washed items that i wanted to wear again, and came back home with clothes that weren't even touched except to unpack in to a drawer, and then put back into the suitcase.

anyhow, i'm eight outfits strong, and have about ten more i'd like to come up with. of course, within the items in the pictures above, there are still some remixing opportunities. (this is good preparation for my first 30X30!)

for anyone out there, i'd love to get some positive feedback and ideas for areas of improvement! also, our last two and a half days will be in Paris, and i want to look as stylish as i can (of course). i'm leaning towards the last outfit pictured as an option for the city of lights and love!

yesterday, we went out in the afternoon for some errands. it wasn't too chilly, but it was fairly grey. so i decided to match my attire to the afternoon sky somewhat.

the scarf was a bit of a stretch for me, as far as wearing something that didn't actually color coordinate with the rest. i think it worked. any thoughts?

it's definitely not my outfit that's crazy....it's my hair! my darling husband doesn't often remember to give me a quick 'do check before snapping away. and yes, this time i did also forget to ask, or even take a quick glance in the little mirror that hangs near our front door. oh well! i had just gotten home from a walk to the library and some play at the park with the tot, so i wasn't on top of my game....i was intoxicated by the sun and warmth (a whopping 57 degrees Fahrenheit)!

i wore this yesterday to the Polish Home, which is a Polish community center that's been in Seattle for nearly 100 years. that's old for us U.S. west coast folks! i always represent the colors of the Polish flag, red and white, when we go. why such spirit? well, my husband is Polish, and yes i was "one of those" students that had lots of school spirit all the way from elementary school through college.

anyhow, don't be fooled by the bar arms and feet....it was still only 52 degrees Fahrenheit and i was wearing my long wool overcoat out of doors.

if spring were here today (like it's supposed to be), i would wear something like this to take my little one out for a walk to the library and some playtime at the park.

instead, i'm lounging around in leggings, a tee and over-sized open cardigan, pouting at the cloudy weather and cold temps outside. you'd think growing up here i'd be used to it by now....but rather, i'm getting over it really, REALLY fast!

i'm so happy about my first time participating in everybody, everywear! but i have to admit that i didn't have this outfit on for long, then put it back on in the evening so my darling husband could take some pics for me to post.

i haven't been feeling well the past couple of days, and though this would have been so comfy all day (sans belt), i ended up in jeans and a tee to hang with the tot indoors all day. with the temps we've been having, i would have needed a couple more layer to wear this outside anyhow!

we went for yet another outing to the zoo on saturday morning, and this is what i wore. these boots must be my best thrifted footwear find EVER thus far in my life! they have a little 2" chunky heel, and are so comfortable. the scarf was swapped at one of my ladies' night in (geez, several years ago now!) when i lived in chi-town. i actually pinned the ends together to make it into a tube scarf, which i'll need to sew together by next winter.

and hopefully, that's the next time i'll need to wear it. i am so ready for spring, it's not even funny! having to wear a chunky scarf like this a few weeks into spring is not my idea of a good start to spring. c'mon seattle sun...peek out a bit further and bring a little warmth. pretty please!

i haven't given up or anything like that. so for anyone out there checking out this blog (in its oh so early stage), don't give up on me! i've been dressing in the typical NW (or maybe anywhere?) mom uniform these days, jeans, tees and flats, which is not very exciting, and i don't believe pics were necessary. and i've also not been able to keep up with all of the wonderful blogs that i love to read and browse. pout.

i guess that's just life sometimes.

however, i have been in my closet a fair amount this past week. i've been getting ready for a weekend away to visit a dear friend. and though there are still jeans and tees packed in my suitcase, i can tell you now, i'm going to feel a whole lot cuter in them not toting a tot around!

the hubby and i had a date night on saturday! i had a lot of fun, amazing food and great laughs (we went to a comedy show). i also had a lot of fun wearing this outfit (as you can tell by all the pics)! this was my first foray into mixing prints, and for some reason i tend to stick to neutrals when we go out. i know, that's kinda boring for going out, huh?

as i'm yearning for spring, Tiffany's outfit today just makes me smile! it reminds me of the new green leaves that will populate the trees and shrubs, the colorful flowers that will bud and bloom, and the clear blue sky letting the sun shine down!

and i love the boots! i would never have thought to pair boots like this with a dress, but i think i totally works. you can see them close up here, as well as how blue those tights really are, and the jewelry she wore. also, she made this dress! i really need to borrow my friend's sewing machine and start playing around.

my first

so finally, my first outfit post. i'm hoping to be fairly consistent with posts of me, meaning 3 or 4 times a week. i figure that's pretty doable with all that i have going on, and if i exceed it, i'll be giving myself a big pat on the back! still deciding if i like the door as a background, and of course lighting might be an issue for while. big thanks to my hubby for his patience and picture-taking!

i wore this out to a little playdate today. it was nice and cozy, easy to follow the tot in, and kept my temperature just right in weather that felt a bit balmy (because we're finally in the 50's again, though we had some torrential downpour today). yay, spring is not far behind, and i can't wait to wear these boots with some dresses and bare legs!

first by V-Neesa, who i first saw in Essence magazine in a monthly feature on street style around the country. this outfit reaffirms just how much i need/want an updated trench in my wardrobe.

then by Lilly! this outfit would work for me for date night with the hubby, girls' night in or out, errands, a playdate, you name it (with flat boots however)! i went straight to my closet and was able to put together an outfit similar to this with a great j.crew skirt i've had for years, and also haven't worn in years.

and by her! i love this ensemble, with so much vibrant color in many shades of my favorite color purple! i really should wear more color.

i don't even know her name (yet). another fashion blogger that i just discovered a handful of days ago. when i saw her outfit today, i knew it was the one to post. let's just say, for me it was love at first sight!

why? well, i'm a SAHM (stay at home mom) who likes to put herself together, at least just a bit, before stepping out of the house with my tot. and this outfit would be just the thing for a play date, story time, or running errands with said tot in tow.

now i just need that necklace, and the flats...and heck, why not the cashmere sweater too? like falling in love all over again....*sigh*

i just discovered Fallon a few days ago! and let me tell you, i've fallen for her just like *snap* that.

not only is she rockin' the natural 'do, but nearly every outfit of hers has me saying aloud, "oh, that is so cute!" and "i wish i had that." like this dress, and the belt, the golden/mustard cardigan, and of course the necklace which tops it off so nicely.

she's also right on with something else....pretty much everything is Better with Smiles!

i just adore kendi! that's why i chose her for my first posting on this blog. her wit, adorable smile (just a smirk in this pic), and her style. i can honestly say that in the year or so that i've been following Kendi Everyday, i've only been unsure of a couple of her outfits. in my opinion, that's better than pretty good!
